[ the penderwicks ]

Penderwicks book jacket book jacket Gardam
I heart the Penderwicks. If you're in the mood for a feel good, sweet, easy read with a few chuckles, I suggest reading The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy, by Jeanne Birdsall. It is a really nice story about a dad and his 4 young girls that really love each other, have great personalities and get into lots of funny situations. I'm reading the second one right now (The Penderwicks on Gardam Street), and I'm only in the middle and wondering when is the next one's going to come out already (there will be 5) and sad that I'm quickly coming to the end. .
From the authors page "
Meet the Penderwicks, a family who believes in truth and honor, yet can’t seem to stay out of trouble. There's oldest sister Rosalind, responsible for the rest; stubborn, feisty Skye; dreamy Jane; and shy little Batty, whose best friend is Hound, a large dog more loyal than obedient."

[ conference weekend & the hidden treasure ]

Conference was excellent. I got a lot out of it and can't wait to re-read everythig. Doug got up with me at 6:00am both mornings to watch it and helped keep me awake. I really loved conference extra this year. I was really glad to be able to watch/hear it. And for the wonderful messages that were given.

The only thing that could make it better was to discover this hidden treasure:
It was also quickly exposed that McDouglas has a new specialty and he is an Aebleskiver maker extraordinaire!

We've had this pan kicking around forever and i couldn't imagine what Kaity used it for, but Doug got it out and said it was for danish pancakes, and voila! we had pancake balls with hidden treasures inside (mainly chocolate chips, berries and bananas... yum)! I am hoping this will be the start of a delicious tradition for many more conference mornings to come....

[ easter sunday ]

It was a really nice Easter this year. I kind of felt like my mom because I had dinner at my house and made a turkey and baked fresh rolls so basically I was busy all morning. It was such a contrast from running around getting things ready all morning to sitting in sacrament meeting and the feeling of calm and peace that came. I was so grateful for the chance to be there. It was a really thought provoking and touching meeting. The spirit was really strong. And I'm really grateful for my Savior and the atonement. Anyway, I was glad to have that time. Then back home to see if my first turkey turned out ok! Which i think it did. Becoming / Blaine M. Yorgason, Brenton G. Yorgason.

Then a delicious dinner with ham, turkey, mashed potatoes and the works.
My first helping...Followed by a pretty funny game of Scategories. I'm the w-o-r-s-t at that game. The worst. I leave most of them blank. But I did get juicebox for school supplies. That counts, right? Mark got Witchy Woman for a dance and even preformed a bit of it for us. A lot of laughing. I forgot how fun games are.

Thanks everyone. It was a really nice day.
